subject: Living In The Past [print this page] I am a student of historyI am a student of history. I love it! I dont feel that we can know where we are or where we are going unless we know where we have been. However, knowing where I have BEEN isn't where I LIVE. I live in the NOW. Too many have no clue as to where they've been, nor what history has to teach them. Worse yet though, are those who are living in the PAST! We can now eat PORK and the church doesn't have to meet on SUNDAY! Tell me it isn't so Edith! If we disavow a couple of our foundational beliefs the damn will break and God only knows where it will all lead. Exactly! For too long, RELIGION has felt like it knew it all. For too long SCIENCE has felt like it had it all figured out. A funny thing happened on the way to CERTITUDE. Religion got better acquainted with Nag Hammadi and the Gnostic texts and science ran into the wall of quantum physics and fractal geometry. What a bummer! The next thing you know, someone will tell us that our Federal Government doesn't have the answers to every human need in life. And then what will we do? What indeed! Seriously, we must come to the reality that is at the core of all main religions, and that is LOVE. God, regardless of the name you give GOD (God isn't male or female by the way, though I use the metaphor since I am part human) is LOVE, the universe is held together (or not) by LOVE, and you and I were created to LOVE. Hey, it sounds like LOVE is pretty important, eh? Love is a verb, and one that is a NOW ACTION. Are you loving.....NOW?
