Using Corporate Video
Using Corporate Video

Just a few decades ago, the concept of corporate videos was literally unheard of. Though, everybody knew about the impact that the use of such a technology would have on sales presentations, training sessions and customer/client interactions, the costs associated with the use of such a technology was too high and only certain large organizations could really afford it.

With the advent of higher computation speeds and smaller form factors of digital components and electronics, "machine intelligence" began to invade just about every aspect of modern life in ways never imagined. At the same time, devices like digital cameras, camcorders, TV's, computer peripherals and other digital equipment were becoming increasingly cheap.

All these changes meant that the creation, publication and editing of high quality corporate videos became cost effective and easy. Corporate videos are videos which are targeted towards a specific audience. The types of audiences include, but are not limited to: business clients, customers, employees, and management staff.

Some of the common uses of corporate videos are:

1) Sales/Technical presentations during meetings that may be targeted towards management staff and/or potential clients.

2) Training videos for employees to explain certain technical aspects of work, proper way of executing tasks, work related safety procedures to be followed, general motivational training, future and long term goals of the organization etc.

3) Customer review/opinion videos - These may be presented to the management/directorial level staff to show consumer opinion about the products and/or services that the organization has to offer. These videos usually affect management and technical practices.

4) Product launch/consumer interaction videos - These videos are usually displayed publicly when an organization wishes to launch a new product in the market. These videos are promotional in nature and provide a brief overview of the product to be launched.

While some corporate videos are usually made by employees using simple equipment, sometimes professional help is required. Many large organizations use professional equipment, photographers, video editors and authoring to create a corporate video.

The importance of corporate video can be understood by the following lines: "If a picture is worth a 1000 words, just how many words a video has, if a video contains 1000s of pictures (frames)?" Corporate videos will only become more important in the future, as the related technology becomes cheaper and more efficient. This can be further augmented by the fact that storage media size is growing by leaps and bounds every year, thereby reducing the cost per GB of data stored.
