UAE, March 2011 Mr Arul Murugan the concierge manager at Taj Palace Hotel Dubai has been presented with the Golden Keys hospitality award in Dubai, UAE.

The Golden Key, or Les Clefs d'Or, is a professional association of hotel concierges around the world, and the award is the highest honour in the industry.

The award was presented to Murugan for his outstanding contribution to the concierge service in the hospitality industry. He will also now sit on the executive committee of Les Clefs D'Or in the UAE.

"Serious and capable, Arul is hardworking, highly organised and extremely proficient at handling his 25-man team" said Andreas Mueller general manager Taj Palace Hotel Dubai. "Thanks to him, guests are relieved of the difficulties of making restaurant reservations, arranging spa appointments, procurement of tickets for special events and assisting with various travel arrangements and tours of interesting places. New exciting activities are always being added in Dubai, and Arul ensures he is fully up to date with everything."

Murugan who has been with the Taj Palace Dubai for 20 years says he is often expected to achieve the impossible dealing with any request a guest may have. "I rely on my extensive list of personal contacts with various local merchants and service providers for requests such as a dinner in a stretch limousine, an overnight stay on a luxury yacht, a birthday party in a hot air balloon and, increasingly, requests for helicopter rides over the city. There are many specialty restaurants in Dubai, and guests are always interested to try something they can't find at home. "

Les Clefs d'Or was established in 1929 to honour concierges who strive to accommodate every guest request that is morally, legally or humanly possible. It is an organisation that reaches over 3000 members in over 50 countries. Members can be distinguished by the gold keys they display on their lapels.
