Third Day Now on the third day, you eat all the fruits and vegetables you want. Leave off the potato though. The variety is building a bit. Fourth Day Sometimes called the banana diet, this day makes it clear where that name came from. You eat all the skim milk you desire plus up to eight, that's EIGHT, bananas today. Certainly those with blood sugar challenges should skip this. In that case just repeat another of the earlier days instead. Fifth Day This time you can eat up to twenty ounces of beef or broiled or baked chicken and six fresh tomatoes too. Drink at least six glasses of water this day and every day of the week. Sixth Day Mix it up today again and eat all the beef and vegetables you want. Continue with the soup, but leave off the baked potato. Seventh Day This last day puts you on to all the brown rice you want. It also includes fruit juice and all the vegetables you want. Note how the variety shifts around during the week but the foods are varied and numerous. The cabbage soup diet is about more than cabbage soup. As you see, it's quite varied. The weight loss mostly results from the restrictions that keep both calories and fats quite low. This is only for a few days, remember. After that the way to really get results is to transition to a more sensible and balanced plan that combines reasonable eating with a plan for more exercise.
