The Thought Closet
The Thought Closet

Thoughts they govern our actions, control our speech, direct our feeling and compose our very being. The thoughts that we think either lead us towards our goal or farther away. It is important to analyze our thinking.

I often think of my thought life, as clothing that is worn, It is either sharp and impeccable or shoddy and sloppy. You must choose to dress your mind with excellence. Purging things that simply don't fit from your thought processes and only allowing what is beneficial to remain. My thought closet must be continually purged of ideas, and thoughts that just don't fit any more. As the purging process begins I often ask myself is this idea to small, pass or a relic of the past. I then ponder are these thoughts, limiting, destructive, unproductive? If the answer is yes then they must be dumped and destroyed. No need to donate or share. After the purging process is over, I then tidy up and straighten the thoughts that remain. I want to make sure that these thoughts are utilized correctly in order to maintain maximum efficiency.

During the purging process, I often come across what I call thoughts toward goals that are in need of repair. These are the torn or soiled goals that are worthy of repair, they deserve a second chance. These are the thoughts and goals, which need to be revamped, before proper utilization can begin. On the top shelf in my thought closet is where I store the thoughts that pertain to my long term goals. This is not an out of sight out of mind, storage area. This area is reserved for weekly focus and meditation. It is where I ask such questions as what did I do this week that is getting me closer to my long term goals? If I am not doing something weekly that will inch me closer to the goal then it is not worthy of space in my thought closet.

My thought closet is designed for the thoughts I want to wear, if it doesn't fit who I am, and who I want to become then it must be eradicated. My thoughts must stay current and in fashion. Some thoughts never go out of style, some are seasonal, and some are simply faddish. I outgrow some thoughts and then there are some thoughts I have to grow into.

What kind of thoughts are in your thought closet?
