Ok here's some news that we have been eagerly awaiting, each year the public's watches as the top car manufacturers battle it out for the coveted prize of world car of the year. Each year these competitions provide some really interesting results. Also some car brands that historically would not stand a chance in these awards have made some massive strides and even taken top spot.

So the finalists in this years award provides two really awesome cars that you would not be surprised about and one that is very different from the other two. The first two the Audi A8 and the BMW 5 series would not raise an eyebrow at all. Both cars are fantastic machines that many car lovers would strive to own but might not due to the cost. Finally the Nissan Leaf has been included which is a massive achievement for the Nissan brand.
These three cars have been produced from an initial shortlist of 39; the list produced by 66 journalists from across the globe produce some really great cars. Within the list (the top 10) included the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and two of our personal favourites The BMW X3 and Porsche Cayenne. Unfortunately we all have to wait until the 21st April to hear the final winner, the result is to be announced at the New York motor show and as there is an electric model in the running industry experts will be watching with close attention.

There is no question that the winner will be in hugely popular company. Previous winners have included the Volkswagen Polo and the Golf model. Despite the previous dominance by the Volkswagen there was no site of the German stalwart this year.
Whilst the world is struggling to recover from previous financial turmoil and the new political unrest many commentators will question if these awards have any place in today's society. We feel however that consumers get valuable information from these types of awards.
