Law of Attraction: Sarah, Her Guitar and You

I just walked downstairs and saw Sarah, my 12 year old on the front stoop. She's strumming her new guitar like an old pro. She sounds great for someone who's been playing for 48 hours. It makes sense. She spent part of last year's sixth grade music class learning how to "play." Of course for most kids that means picking up a sample guitar and trying not to break it. But since my kids are both musically oriented she picked up many of the basics.

Pull up a chair. Let me tell you how Sarah got her guitar, because it's the same way YOU are going to get everything you want. (wink, wink)

About two months ago Sarah became obsessed with getting a guitar. She started by going to the old stand-by, asking mom and dad for one. And of course mom and dad came back with their old stand by: find a way to earn the money for it. No point in handicapping your kids by making things too easy for them. She did us one better than that. She started doing research with local guitar shops (not bad for a 12 year old). And she poked around eBay. She became a guitar manifesting machine. She begged for jobs around the house that would help her earn money. Since she has two entrepreneurial parents who could use help with simple computer work - and help cleaning the house - she started attracting a few paying gigs. Then she started carrying around her money jar. It was as if she wanted to stay ready for any opportunity. But of course what was really happening was she was making the experience as real and immediate as possible. Remember doing that kind of thing when you were a kid?It was RED HOT DESIRE. For you then. And for Sarah now. This continued for a few days. She spoke about her guitar at every opportunity, including what she would name it when it got here. One day on one of the home shopping channels on TV a guy named Esteban, who is a guitar guru was hocking his guitar and lessons package. Not sure who saw it first, Sarah or Mom. But it was as if the planets lined up. Now it wasn't just a pie in the sky idea. Esteban (who we've known about forever but fell out of our consciousness) was showing us not only the guitar, but a PATH to it.It was a beauty. It reminded me about how Ralphie felt about his BB gun in "A Christmas Story." She gave us more details about this thing than any person had a right to expect. We did some calculations and found out with a little help from parents it was now in range. We saw how badly she wanted this guitar, and not just as a passing fad. Like I said, this is a musical kid. She's been giving up her Tuesday afternoons for the past four years to sing with the Connecticut Children's Chorus. She sang with the Connecticut Opera Comany when they performed Carmen in Hartford. She taught herself the piano and keyboard. She's a pretty good french horn player. She's the real deal - a combination of talent and a LOT of hard work.In other words, she demonstrated the COMMITMENT. The enthusiasm she had for this guitar became contagious. She tilted the Universe - and her parents - in her favor. She emptied out her savings and mom and dad supplied the balance. So Friday afternoon the UPS truck pulled up. A burly man got out with a large package. Sarah made a bee line to the door. She and her big sister (who was also caught up in Sarah's passion - and wanted a crack at the guitar too) demolished the packaging and found their way to the stringed beauty. It was a moment of ecstasy, and dreams realized. She and "Maria" have been inseperable since.Awesome stuff. She's really good, which is another way of saying hearing your kid playing a musical instrument doesn't make your teeth hurt. Now let's talk about YOU.Whaddya want? Seriously. What's entered your consciousness? What's lighting you up, waking you up, churning you up, burning you up?Have you lined up your energies with it? Have you thrown down with it...being willing to commit your time, resources, energy and money to it? (After all, money is just another expression of time, energy and resources...one we're most familiar with.)Are you open to finding the path of least resistance to getting it?Sarah got hers. Now it's time to get yours. Take a lesson in passion, courage, commitment and joy from a 12 year old who has everything she wants. And maybe grab a lesson from Sarah's dad, who happens to have a course on this very subject. Who do you think is Sarah's role model???Happy Strumming!Larry http://www.articlesbase.com/law-of-attraction-articles/law-of-attraction-sarah-her-guitar-and-you-4354594.html
