Looking for natural ways to get rid of snoring? Well, so are many more people like you, who haven't had any great success with mainstream treatment. Here are 3 home remedies for snoring that work for me, so I thought I would share them with you.
Just one quick thing before I share my 3 natural ways of getting rid of snoring at night. This will help you to appreciate more fully how these snoring home remedies actually work...
Snoring is caused by the soft tissue at the back of your mouth and nose moving into your airways and partially blocking them. This only happens when you are asleep because your muscles are relaxed.
The air you breathe has to move through a restricted cross-sectional area, which makes the air turbulent and not smooth-flowing as normal. This turbulence then 'vibrates' the soft tissue, causing the extremely annoying sounds we call snoring.
Okay, here are my 3 natural ways to get rid of snoring during the night:-
1. Exercises to Get Rid of Snoring
We use exercise to improve our body shape, to lose weight, to improve our health, etc., so why not to help get rid of snoring?
Push your tongue out as far as possible and hold for a couple of seconds, then retract. Then push out again and try to touch your nose. Hold and then retract. Repeat again but this time trying to touch your chin. Repeat these three steps about a dozen times.
Another exercise is to do really exaggerated smiling. Just smile as hard as you can and hold for several seconds. Repeat ten times. Keep repeating throughout the day, with nobody around of course!
And here's another great exercise to help get rid of snoring. Sit straight up in a chair. Push your lower jaw out as far as possible past your upper jaw. Hold for 10 seconds then relax. Repeat this 10 or 12 times.
2. Not Eating Before Bed to Get Rid of Snoring
Did you know that one trigger for snoring is eating meals just before going to bed? It's true, heavy meals can cause you to snore when you sleep.
So why is this? It's because it can take several hours for your body to digest food. So that if you go to bed shortly after a heavy meal, you'll still have a full stomach, putting pressure on your diaphragm. This in turn puts pressure on your airways, so causing snoring.
So, your last meal should be at least 3 1/2 hours before bedtime.
3. Not Drinking Before Bed to Get Rid of Snoring
Did you know that alcohol is another known trigger for snoring?
You see, although alcohol at first acts as a stimulant, it quickly starts to act as a depressant. This produces even more muscle and tissue relaxation. All this does is increase the risk of your soft tissue moving into your airways, restricting them and so causing snoring.
Your body can take some considerable time to process alcohol, so you need to ensure you don't have alcohol at least 4 hours or more before going to bed.
Try these three home remedies for snoring. If you stick with them I'm sure you'll get the benefits, as I have done. In particular, I found the exercises to be very beneficial.
But I have only had time to show you three, and there are many, many more to try out to get maximum benefit...
