What is and how to meditate
What is and how to meditate

Meditation is the ultimate form of self-discipline and self-control. It is a practice that develops your ability to control your mind, body, and reality. Meditation is accessing your true self and interacting with the source that influences everything about you. Everything about you from your thought patterns, behavior, desires, to even the influences of the reality you experience are all reflections of your true self. During meditation, you ignore the external world and concentrate on who you are within. This opens your world from within for you to experience and take control.

Why Meditate?

The mind is a super system that influences everything about you. This system can be programmed to alter anything about you. The mind has many functions and tools in which we naturally and usually unknowingly use everyday. When these tools become known to a person and consciously used, anything about the person can be influenced. The condition of a person's physical body is the result of the mind's impact and influence on it. The condition of the physical body is the result of the mind's programming as to how the physical body is accepted as. This process is also responsible for every other personal condition such as your personality, mood, behavior, mental strength, health, and even the influences of your reality where elements such as luck and karma come into play. Because of this, the application of programming your mind will develop self-discipline and self-control and this in itself is a great benefit.

The Essentials Keys

The first essential key to know is the trance state. A trance state is the state of mind and body when you are completely, deeply relaxed. At this state, physical perception is ignored while the consciousness remains focused on the senses of the mind. This is extremely necessary as your concentrated is sharpened, thoughts are more vivid and clear, and the sensitivity of mental sensory is amplified. This is the recommended state to be in to interact with your mind with much more effectiveness, especially for a beginner. There are many levels of how deep of a trance state one may be under. Light trances can be described as a very relaxed state of concentration and body where it is very easy to work with your thoughts with ease. Heavy or deep trances are where you may feel detached from the rest of the world, thoughts are extremely vivid, and you may have trouble keeping yourself from drifting off into a dream. The level of trance needed for a meditation varies but for most meditations a light trance is all that is necessary.

To enter a light trance, sit or lie comfortably. Concentrate your attention at your feet and relax any tension. Completely relax your feet. Move on to your lower legs and ankles and relax any and all tension there. Continue to move up and relax all noticable tension in the body. There is no need to stress this. Remember that a trance is simply a relaxed state. After taking your time and becoming very relaxed, you should be in a light trance. At this point, meditation can begin. To enter a deeper trance, you must first enter a light state of trance. Begin taking slow, calm, deep breaths in and out, do not discomfort yourself. This will effectively slow down your brain waves and induce deeper levels of trance. After a few minutes of these breaths focus on feeling your body free falling and keep this sensation in focus. This sensation is very useful to effectively reach deeper levels. This sensation may be felt with the aid of visualisation such as falling from a skyscraper. Use this faling sensation to fall into deeper states of relaxation. Once you are satisfied with how deep you may be, enjoy the experience. Deep trances feel very peaceful and can be a personal get-a-way from the external world. I recommend for beginners to develop the ability and experience of entering deeper trances. Practice on reaching deeper states of trance as the more you become used to entering deeper trances the easier reaching a light trance becomes. This may eventually develop the ability of entering a trance at will which opens up a load of abilities and new ways to meditate.
