Today we live in such times where we work like machines and when something goes wrong with us, the health care system treats us like we are a machine. We get a quick fix of the symptoms and go back to work. The underlying cause of the breakdown is never treated. A complete whole "body" wellness is almost never achieved. Whole "body" here means physical body, mind, and spirit. We are not just matter. When something serious goes wrong typically it runs deep from our physical to mental to spiritual layers of our being. A whole "body" cleanse is required to promote comprehensive wellness. We have to shift the paradigm on how we approach our health and wellness.
Nowadays, people are so busy in accumulating material wealth. We are bombarded with thoughts of acquiring worldly things that we fail to realize the important things that really matter in this life. We work hard, but for what, really? For luxury cars, millions of worth of mansions and all the gadgets invented every day? We live with the thought that these material things will bring us happiness, peace, and healthy life but only to discover later how wrong we were. This mistaken intelligence results in serious illness. This illness is a way of our body telling us to stop, think and reflect about what we have been doing in our lives. The disease often represents a deeper emotional and spiritual issue that we need to address along with the physical. The whole body needs to be treated and cleansed of the disease.
Contrary to popular belief, whole body cleanse does not just mean detoxifying your physical body alone of toxins. What about the mind? The struggles, stress, problems in your relationships, jobs, finances and other things that weigh on your mind are considered mental and emotional toxins and you need to get rid of that. If you do not address these, the stress and weight you carry ends up manifesting as toxins in physical body.
According to Ayurveda wisdom, an ancient natural medical system, the mind is often the root cause of the disease. If your thoughts are bringing you down, then you need to eliminate them from your system. Forgive yourself, forgive other people and unload your excess baggage to cleanse your whole body. It is only after you cleanse your mind of stress and conflicts, you will promote health in the physical body.
The idea is to promote health and wellness in the whole body that includes Mind, Body, and Spirit by keeping your whole body cleansed of physical and mental toxins. It is your connection with your inner spiritual strength that supports the mind and body through challenging times. Today our healthcare system does not approach health in this fashion. We must take this approach to promote health and wellness in our whole "body" and perhaps in our lifetime we may see a paradigm shift in how healthcare is delivered by our healthcare system.
