There is no shortage of newsletters you can choose from. They usually start with an offer for a free report or a users guide or something with an interesting title or bits of interesting content.
The email says you will receive a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter containing some of the latest information about a subject you are interested in knowing more about. Information on how to do something, how to build something or how to earn more money.
It is just what you were looking for, weekly information on a subject of your desires. So subscribe already, what are you waiting for?
After you put your name and email address in the right spot and click the submit button you are instantly sent either a conformation email or the first copy of the eagerly awaited newsletter.
This first copy is filled with information about what you can expect from future newsletters. It tells you what you can expect to learn from the ongoing system you have just become a part of.
You know you have just hit the jackpot for the information you have been looking for since the internet was established. You are finally going to be able to learn from a weekly dose of hints, tips and new ideas. But, is that what you actually get? Just wait for the second newsletter.
The second letter arrives in your inbox and in it is a little chit chat from the author to let you know you have a friend. Then a quick and small hint on the subject.
After that there is a hyperlink to an item, an ebook or an address of a friend of his offering something for sale. Something that will make life more fulfilling. Something that you must have to gain success.
From this point on all future newsletters will contain more "buy me" than show me". The information you wanted is soon replaced with where to go to purchase an ebook, a report or to sign up for a training course. Did you know you wanted to sign up for some kind of training course?
That is not what AI sent my email address for. I wanted the hints and tips that were mentioned in the beginning. I wanted some of the free knowledge that was talked about. Where did all that go?
For your information, the object for a newsletter, the reason for it is only to get a name and email address to add to the senders growing prospect list.
It is a known fact that 90% of the newsletters (in fact, I would bet the percentage is higher than 90%) are only there for the purpose of obtaining addresses for the list, not to supply you with anything important to you. Some newsletters have more than one link to a buy me address.
All newsletters will contain a hyperlink to a sign up of some kind. Even my own will contain a hyperlink to something but I will guarantee you that you will learn something from my letter. It is not all about selling.
Mine may contain a link to an article of useful information as well as a link to purchase an ebook.After a while the newsletter becomes just another sales page. A page that is designed only to extract dollars from your pocket.
Don't get me wrong, there are a few real newsletters but they are few and far apart. I have several that I stay with because before they bombard me with "buy me" they actually give me information on the original subject.
The newsletter that sends all the buy me links and not much or any legitimate information are usually from someone who is trying to build their first prospect list and don't have a background of productive knowledge to share with the public. They are probably just learning.
When I open my email I find five, six or even ten emails from different people with the exact same message wanting me to sign up for the exact same plan or program for the exact same cost.
This shows me that when I submitted my address it went to an email address seller who sold it to a crowd of other people. Now these people are trying to make money from my signup to something else.
After a short time I find myself going through my mail unsubscribing from them one by one. In some cases, if I see a report that sounds interesting to me I will sign up for the instant report then instantly unsubscribe. I know what is coming so I end it before it can get out of hand.
You can too, if it is something of interest to you take it then unsubscribe. It wont hurt a bit.
