Hard Water Spot Removal in Riverside and Corona CA

Hard Water Spots in Riverside and Corona CA

The Water in Riverside and Corona is fairly hard. Therefore if regular tap water is sprayed on your shower doors or windows it will leave ugly hard water marks on the glass. Hard water spots goes through two stages. Stage one is where the hard water dries on the glass/windows. Stage two corrosion is where the hard water spots are left on the glass/windows for a while and as glass is a porous material it starts to etch into the glass. Stage one corrosion is easier to remove whereas stage two is sometimes impossible to remove.

So how do you prevent hard water spots appearing on you windows and shower doors?

1. First of all, adjust your sprinklers so that no water is hitting your windows. If you have the problem on your shower door, the shower nozzle can be adjusted away from the glass.

2. If you wash your house down, have your windows cleaned as soon as possible afterward, or squeegee off your shower door after each shower.

3. If you have areas that are prone to hard water spots, professional cleaning will remove all/most hard water spot, and a wax coating can be applied to the glass which helps prevent the hard water spot adhering to the glass.

Common Mistakes:

Using acid based products like CLR. Any acid based products will damage the glass/windows. Many window cleaners use a Hydrofluoric acid based product. However this is very damaging to the glass. In fact hydrofluoric acid is used commercially to etch glass because it DISSOLVES GLASS. See Wikipedia for this information Hydrofluoric Acid Wikipedia.

What we use toremove hard water spots, is a fine rubbing compound. This is much more safe, and effective, removing most of the stage 2 corrosion as well. This process is similar to glass scratch removal process but is not as harsh. It does involve much more labor work, but the results speak for themselves. Window cleaners use the acid based cleaners because there is minimal labor involved, They only need to apply the solution let it sit a few minutes and then wash it off. But the damage is done it these few minutes.
