By now, most of us are aware of many malpractices followed by DirecTV. We have known that DirecTV, which is the most popular satellite TV provider in USA, has goofed up things and misled people into signing up with its services. People have complained about billing issues, dubious marketing campaigns, hidden charges and fees, unclear advertisements, huge early termination fee, poor customer support, and lots more. In fact, extended warranty scam is another one, which has come to forefront recently.
There was this subscriber whose grandfather changed his place and carried along DirecTV's services. But he required all the set up in order to enjoy viewing great number of channels offered by DirecTV, a popular satellite TV provider in the country. Therefore, this young subscriber fixed an appointment with the technicians of DirecTV. However, no one turned up and did not even raise any issue regarding the extended warranty or DirecTV Service Plan.
Then, the subscriber called up again to find out what was the reason that installers did not show up. However, finally, he had to reschedule the appointment. Well, the technicians came and without a single word, completed the entire installation process. Subscriber felt quite relieved and highly appreciated their capability and speed with which they completed the work.
Everything was fine, until subscriber's grandfather was asked to sign off the project. Just as the grandfather was about to put his signatures, the grandson immediately snatched the paper and read out the details aloud. Probably, his inner instinct prompted him to do so. To his utter surprise, he found out that the part of paper was about the DirecTV Service Plan or warranty, which was earlier declined. This time again, he declined to accept this offer and wanted to opt out of this service.
He was all the more shocked when he asked the technical personnel that whether this was pointed out by other subscribers or not and the answer came a no' with a big smile on tech's face, which is a testimony to the fact that DirecTV misled people into this warranty scam. With this unethical business practice followed by DirecTV, the subscriber is really disappointed and feels sorry for a brand name like DirecTV.
From this incident, we can make out that the satellite TV giant never made an effort to bring this to consumers' notice and unethically charged them of Service Plan (warranty). Apparently, with this malpractice in sight, it is clear once again that the company is just bent upon doing anything to earn major revenues, without thinking a bit about its customers. So, do you think that this kind of an act is justified? Well, all we can hope is that the company soon realizes that it is going the wrong way to increase consumer base and earn profits. Righteous path may be difficult but will give back the dignity that the company deserves.
