When chickens are healthy and content, they produce best quality and the most delicious eggs. If you ignore the needs of your chickens, then it will certainly decrease the quality of the eggs. In the ever-changing world in which we live in, the way we get our eggs and poultry is different than 50 years ago. For the most part, the chickens that are grown for sale must meet (USDA) United States Department of Agriculture standards and does not allow growth hormones in raising chickens, turkeys, or any other fowl. The USDA does not allow antibiotics in the raising of these animals to prevent or treat diseases as well. That is why you will not see "No hormones added" on any package unless it is followed by the statement USDA does not permit the use of hormones in this product.

While this information is all well and good, this is just a general rule and people don't like to follow rules, especially when it costs them money, which is why building a coop for you is a great idea. You do not have to worry about if someone followed the rules or not. You don't have to worry about what you are feeding your family. Building a chicken coop is one of the best decisions you could make for your family because you know what goes in and what will be the end result.

So maintain your families health, maintain your chickens health. Chickens should not be exposed to harsh elements. Like people, chickens do not like it when the weather is too hot or too cold, too wet or too dry. So a coop that is only chicken wire and some wood will most likely get your chickens sick. So take a little more care when you are planning on building a chicken coop.

In addition, building a coop with poor defenses runs risk of you flock being injured or killed by predators. Animals like foxes, weasels, raccoons or even neighborhood dogs and cats are all potentially a bog threat to your chickens, which is why a properly building a chicken coop is extremely important to the health of a chicken.
