Learning online marketing is like anything else in life. You can't just read about. You have to get in there and make mistakes. You have to work out the kinks by trial and error. This is not any more different than anything else you've learned in life. So if someone says they can get you up and running in weeks I would take it with a grain of salt. But we shouldn't be so jaded that we don't take a chance.
So with that in mind, I'm going to teach you a few things that you can use to get started. The first thing you have to figure out is what do you want to market? You can market digital and retail products or services. When you do a search for affiliate programs you'll be so amazed at the amount of companies that have an affiliate program. This is where you help to market products for companies and get paid a commission. I've been in sales a long time and have been able to sell many products. But there is a definite way of doing this that is different than the cold calls and door to door sales. But the general idea is and will always be the same. You are providing a product to someone who is willing to pay for it. When you do this check out the product at compete.org. You put in the URL in the search box and it will tell you how much the product is making and for how long. You can also check out the market itself by going on Google Trends. You can see well it is doing and in what areas as well. With all these tools you can choose the right product to promote.
This is what I'm going to suggest next. There are many ways to promote your product but what I suggest is article marketing. Choose your title this way. Go on Google Keyword Tool and get your keywords. You want to choose keywords that have less than 3000 monthly searches. This way you avoid trying to compete with other people and give you a controllable market for you. The keywords are titles. Write your articles and leave your link in the resource box. I would check out articles that are in the same keyword as you to see what they're writing about as well before you start writing.
