Is There Any Hope After Infidelity?
Is There Any Hope After Infidelity?

I hope this article provides you with hope after infidelity has been uncovered. I know of the crying for hours and stomach pains and anxiety attacks and fits of rage. Something I know that you never imagined dealing with but now find yourself struggling with after infidelity.

I wish there were a simple solution to dealing with infidelity but there isn't. No matter what anyone tells you, the pain, anger, shock and disbelief will only become manageable when you have dealt with the affair and begun to move forward with your life and relationship. It's not time that will heal your wounds but what you do with the time.

Finding Hope After Infidelity

First let's address some of the myths or lies about life after infidelity has been discovered.

1. Your relationship will end at some point due to the infidelity. This is not an absolute. Yes, your relationship could end because of the infidelity. However, millions of relationships end where no infidelity was involved. So although infidelity is a big obstacle to overcome, it does not mean the immediate death of your relationship.

2. Your sex life will be below average after infidelity. This will only be the case if you haven't dealt with the affair properly.

3. You now have a free pass to have one affair because your spouse or partner has had one. Dare I say two wrongs don't make it right? If that's the thinking in a relationship then it's probably better to end it before someone else gets hurt.

Now, what are some ways you can restore hope and your relationship after infidelity?

1. Face the infidelity head on and don't let it control you. Infidelity is scary and painful to deal with. If you are like most of us you probably just want the pain gone and your life back to normal. For many, that results in taking little or no steps to deal with the infidelity, waiting for time to heal all of the wounds. This just drags the problem out and eventually it becomes tiring and not worth salvaging the relationship.

2. Give your relationship a fighter's chance. Your relationship after infidelity will be like a fighter who has just been knocked off his feet. He is hurt, confused and shaky at best. Although he is facing great odds at rebounding because he's lost most of his power, he is still one punch away from winning the fight. Your marriage is one precious moment from being healed and set free after infidelity. Stay in there and don't quit before you give your marriage a chance to be restored.

3. Stop yourself and refocus daily. You will most likely continue to be angry and disappointed with your cheating spouse. Every time you see a couple kissing or being intimate you might struggle with images of your spouse being intimate with the other person. Dealing with images of your spouse cheating after infidelity could be one of your most important obstacles to overcome. When this starts to become an issue, take a moment and clear your mind and refocus on the big picture, saving your relationship.
