The summer may be a long way off for now with plenty of people still feeling the cold from our record low temperatures clocked up over the winter months. But soon there will come the time when the sun gets that little bit stronger and many offices and industrial workplaces begin to feel the heat. This increase in temperature may have some looking forward to the more favourable weather but for many the warmer weather can lead to heightened stress levels or a dip in work rate.
If you've ever been in an office during the summer months when the UK gets its brief spell of hot weather then you'll know how warm it can get causing workers to feel uncomfortable and become irritable. This could lead to frayed tempers and their performance being affected, in some cases some workers' health can be affected and could even lead to illness or fainting.
It is the employer's responsibility to provide a safe workplace for their employees but it is also essential to keep workers happy too, after all many employers subscribe to the ideal that a happy workforce is a productive workforce. A key part of this is to make sure they are comfortable and temperatures can be as important as other elements such as furniture and computers. Some employers can think that merely opening the windows can alleviate any high temperatures, but this can have a limited effect if the outside temperature is already high and the air is still providing no cooling breeze.
Instead a better idea is to look at possible interior cooling solutions such as fans or air conditioning; these can help lower the temperature with many advanced systems able to maintain a constant temperature so there isn't the worry about having to constantly alter the controls all day. There are a number of products available but sometimes due to some restrictions such as rented office space where you may not be able to make significant changes such as air conditioning units being built in. This doesn't mean that you don't have any choices though.
A simple desk fan can help cool one employee or even a bank of desks with other larger models such as oscillating tower fans not requiring lots of floor space to work their magic. With varying speeds and strengths you can pick how much cooling you need and turn it lower if you want less noise such as when you need to make an important phone call.
There are plenty of cooling solutions available and with the summer months soon creeping up on us, you'll want to make sure you are prepared unless you want an army of hot and bothered workers on your case!
There are plenty of workplace cooling and heating solutions available, from wall mounted air conditioners and heaters to oscillating tower fans that can help keep the air moving and provide some welcome cool air when you are stuck at a desk.
