How to fight the Winter Blues by Playing Video Games

Many parents are complaining these days that they cannot get their children away from the video games, while this may be true for a lot of parents there are some good sides to this perplexing issue. First of all children and teens playing video games in one form or another has been going on for years at least since the late 1970's. Heck, on most weekends my brother and I would take off and travel about 45 minutes to get to the nearest Mall, because it had a big arcade filled with video games. We went through more quarters a month then most folks win at the slot machines in casinos.

If we weren't at the arcade in the Mall, we were playing video games at home either on the TI-99/4a Computer we had, or on the Intellivision video game console. My Mother and Dad used to holler at us too, 'Our you guys gonna sit on your butts, playing them games all day?', they would ask.

Now that I am over half a century old, I don't play too many video games, but that is just my choice. I have lots of friends and relatives that are my age, that do still play them and some play them about every day. What some parents don't understand or think about is, the video games are a great cure for one major issue in any persons life, and this includes adults as well as children, they help win the fight against the winter blues.

Now when it's cold and snowy outside, and there are some dangerous conditions what would you rather have going on as a parent? Your children driving to some party, or some place, with slippery roads, or have them safe inside playing video games. These video games keep them occupied and safe at home. For goodness sake, make some popcorn and join them in the fun on them cold snowy winter days.

When the children are at School and you are home alone, or maybe there with your spouse, why don't you power up that video game console and play the games too, there is nothing as fun and easy to do to help fight the winter blues.

There is a website that describes numerous activities and other methods to help eliminate the Winter Blues, this website is called: Winter Activities - and it may be found at this url: http://www.winter-activities.com
