The typical Western Christian is torn about what to think when the topic of Islam comes up. On the one hand, we read the daily headlines that scream hard-to-read messages such as
I could go on and on. In just 10 days of watching and collecting stories from just one news source, I found 27 such stories. We live in a scary time.
Yet, we do not want you to live in fear. We want you to understand that ministry to Muslims is challenging. But we also do not want to be scaremongers. In a recent article from Newsweek entitled, "Why Fears of a Muslim Takeover Are All Wrong," the author, William Underhill, says,
"Violent zealotry is for the tiny minority: polls repeatedly reaffirmed that Muslims overwhelmingly disapprove of terrorism."
I pray that looking through our website will help you to better understand the risks...and blessings...of reaching out to the Muslim world. At One Mission Society, we have the privilege of hearing life-transforming stories regularly. In the Western world, we rarely hear of someone coming to know Jesus as a result of a dream, vision or miraculous occurrence; yet, around the world, God is at work, often bringing people unto Himself in these ways.
