Garmin Foreunner 405 a Runners Dream

The Garmin Forerunner 405 is possible the best sports watches on the market at this time and a great training tool that will track you as you train. All the stored information about your run i.e. time, pace, speed, distance, average per mile or kilometer, calories burned, heart rate etc is all sent wirelessly to your computer as soon as you walk into your home. This is made possible by the bluetooth ANT Stick which plugs into a PC USB port.

Once it is on your computer you can analyze it using the accompanying Garmin software even or share it with friends online via Garmin Connect. I currently share it on my Twitter account, Facebook and DailyMile.

Garmin is currently at the leading edge of training technology, featuring slick design features like a touch bezel that lets you control your watch with a simple touch, and a precision swipe of your finger and you can scroll through your watches menu to activate the feature you need at that exact moment. You don't even need to fumble for buttons when on a run in the dark as just one 2 fingered touch illuminates the face.

The Foreunner technology is capable of tracking many key training metrics at the same time including your heart rate (assuming you also bought the heart rate monitor). One of my favorite features as a 'wild runner', is the Forerunner's 'take me back to start' application. You simply use the GPS mode to stored your run starting location, and if you get lost, just use it to get back with the built in navigation feature.

If you are constantly seeking to better your time on particular routes, the Forerunner Virtual Partner is a must have feature for you. It takes your previous best run and shows your position on that run compated to your time now. Simply activate the Virtual Partner feature and watch yourself race against yourself!

To many serious runners the Garmin Forerunner 405 is by far one of the best training devices on the market.
