Jaipur- an exhilarating experience

Jaipur is a historical significant city with a vibrant culture that draws many tourists every year. The growing popularity of this place has seen many hotels mushrooming in the past few years.

Among the popular tourists attractions in Jaipur is the Hawa Mahal. This "Palace of Winds" was built as a veil that royal women used for watching proceedings on the road below without being spotted. This monument is actually a sandstone screen with 593 finely screened windows that served as a veil.

The City Palace is another beautiful landmark in Jaipur. Built by the Kachchwah Rajput rulers of Jaipur, this palace was built with a blend of both the Mughal and Rajput architecture. A part of this palace is today a museum that houses rare manuscripts, weapons and Mughal carpets.

Another place of interest in Jaipur is Jantar Mantar, an observatory built of stone and marble in 1718 to study the movement of stars. Among the numerous scientifically designed instruments available in Jantar Mantar, the Ram Yantra', used for gauging altitudes, is the most remarkable of all.

Amber Fort is another historically significant tourist attraction that stands tall on the hilltop just outside Jaipur. While the construction of this fort began in the 16th century, it was not until the 18th century that the fort was completely ready. Representing both the Mughal and Rajput architecture, this fort is built in red sandstone and white marble and offers visitors a spectacular aerial view of Jaipur and the surrounding areas.

With its colourful and exquisite fare of jewellery, clothes, the Jaipuri Rajai, and much more, Jaipur's many shopping bazaars are also a must visit.

Many high-end and budget Jaipur hotels are located in and around Jaipur's tourist attractions and also offer guided tours of this magnificent city.
