With the snowdrops and the crocuses braving the early spring temperatures and the buds starting to open ever so slightly on the bushes and trees it's clear that spring has sprung and as the mild air begins to creep in it's even possible to hear those black birds singing and really feel like we might actually be able to walk down the road in less than a big heavy coat and a pair of Uggs soon.
This is an exciting prospect as it feels like an absolute age since the air was warm enough to put on a pair of open toed shoes or sandals and I really miss this. I love my summer sandals, my flip flops and my Birkenstocks that are just so effortlessly comfortable whilst still being universally stylish.
I have already started to give some thought to preparing my feet for the great unveiling! I have begun to slather them in cream after a shower or a bath and have even started to exfoliate my heels and use a pumice stone on them as there's nothing worse than dry, cracked heels when you've got your feet exposed. I don't want to be one of those people who looks like they don't take care of their feet.
Feet are very important when it comes to summer footwear and if I'm going to treat myself to a great new pair of Birkenstocks this year I want to make sure my feet and toes are in great condition. After all, if I'm wearing some of the gorgeous Birkenstock sandals then people are going to be checking out my feet (I am going to go for a lovely bright red colour in the Madrid style) and it would be a tragedy if they were a complete let down.
I'm going to have a pedicure every couple of months and make sure I've got some fabulous nail colours for my toenails too, bright reds and tangerine oranges and maybe even some crazy colours like blue and green to stir things up a bit. It's easy to forget your feet during the winter as you constantly bury them in thick woolly socks and comfy boots to keep them warm and dry but as soon as spring is on the horizon they need some serious attention if you're going to air them in some lovely sandals.
Birkenstocks are a very popular choice of sandal for the spring and summertime, their Boston Clog with it's felt covered front section is perfect for the first signs of spring as your toes aren't exposed but your heels are and you'll be looking stylish in your jeans and Birkenstocks if you go for these first. Once the weather hots up a little you can progress to the more open' sandals, the Gizeh or the Madrid single strap styles are cool and always a hit in terms of fashion but it might be worth checking out some of the latest styles that Birkenstocks have to offer, from the skinny ankle strap styles (Mayari or the Sparta), with their strappy elegance these sandals would look fabulous with any outfit from cropped jeans to the latest fitted chino styles and even with skirts or pretty dresses too.
Birkenstocks are among the best looking spring and summer footwear brands available for men and women and there's even a cool collection for kids too. These sandals are comfortable (thanks to the shaped cork footbed that moulds to the shape of the wearers foot) and trendy and they come in a multitude of gorgeous colours, patterns and styles. So when you've prepped your feet (heels and toes!) then you should definitely check out the Birkenstock range and give your feet a treat this spring and summer.
