The Cataclysm is upon us all! The world of Azeroth has been shattered, and will never be the same! I can't begin to say how excited I was for this expansion to come out. I couldn't wait to see all the cool new stuff, I couldn't wait to make a troll druid and I couldn't wait to explore the new goblin quests and areas!
However, since there was just so much I wanted to see and do, I kind of became unproductive with leveling my characters. In fact, I've been so busy playing all of these new toons, I don't even have a level 85 yet! That puts me really far behind my friends who are ready to start doing heroics and raiding and getting into PvP. I'm still derping my way around all the new and changed zones.
What I need is focus. So yes, this article is more for me to get organized than anything else. Maybe you'll benefit from it, too.
Here's the plan. Focus on one toon. Get all of the necessities before starting: pocket change, bags, good gear for different levels, and potions. By the way this is made with the Horde in mind, so yeah. Sorry about that. You might need to choose a different early zone in some cases.
1. Start the toon. Starting zones for everything but draenei and bloodelves are optimized. Just do the lines here. As soon as you get the quest to deliver something to the next town, do it.
2. Level 11: Hit up the Barrens, quest there until Ratchet quests are green.
3. Run over to the barrier between Silverpine and Hillsbrad. Complete chain up until you do the crap with the four fingers. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get there
4. At level 25 go to Stranglethorn and bask in the comparatively excellent questing experience (compared to the old STV)
5. 35, head to the Plaguelands (western). Do the chains over both areas. At the end of Light's Hope chains, a goblin will rocket you to your next destination.
6. The rocket will land you in the Badlands. After some quests in Kargath, you'll get a quest to go to Searing Gorge.
7. Searing Gorge's line will lead you to the Burning Steppes, and at some point in that line another goblin will send you to the Swamp of Sorrows.
8. The Swamp of Sorrows will lead you to the Blasted Lands. Just keep questing there until you hit level 58.
9. Deal with Hellfire Peninsula until at least level 60. The blood elf town here probably has the better set of quests. If you can, get a flyer so you don't want to tear your hair out.
10. IMPORTANT: Do the quest in Thrallmar that has you find the dead orc. Complete that chain until you become friendly with the Mag'Har.
11. Play around in Zang until 63, then head to Terrokar. You only have to be in the forest until you're level 64, at which point you can head to Nagrand.
12. If you like Nagrand, complete all the chains. If not, leave for Blade's Edge at 65 or 66. If you wait till you're 66, you don't have to spend too much time in Blade's Edge.
13. At 67, go to Netherstorm. Quest in Area 52 until you get the quests for Archmage Vargoth. That chain will lead you to the Kirin Tor ghost town. The quests there will get you to 68 in no time.
14. Time for WOTLK! Pick the lesser of two evils in terms of zone (Boring Tundra or Failing Fjord) and grit your teeth until you hit 71. Coldarra isn't too bad. It's actually kind of f un.
15. At 71, head to Dragonblight. Follow the natural line of chains. The first hub is across the transborea river or whatever it's called. A small Taunka town.
16. At 73, go to Grizzly Hills. Conquest Hold has better chains that are easier to follow and closer together. Stay here until 74.
17. At 74, go to Zul'Drak. Start at the Argent place. By the time you've finished the chains here and at the troll town, you'll be 76 and ready to go to Sholazar Basin.
18. Stay in Shola as long as you want. I usually leave at around 77 or 78. If you enjoy Icecrown or the Stormpeaks, quest there until you hit 80. If not, go straight to CATACLYSM.
19. I didn't like Hyjal all that much. I just didn't. So I'll recommend the underwater zone instead. If you left Northrend at 78, I don't know whether just one of these zones alone will take you to 82. I'm guessing they will, but be warned.
20. Whichever place you end up picking, leave it at 82 and head to Deepholm. The quests here can annoy you or fascinate you. I personally disliked them, but the zone is absolute eye candy.
21. Leave Deepholm at 83 and run over to Uldum. Uldum's quests are quite fun, but tend to have a lot of cinematics. Just a warning.
22. At 84 you can leave and go to the Twilight Highlands. The quests give so much experience, you'll hit 85 before you know it.
Super basic, sure, but hopefully it'll help you keep focused. Thanks for reading!:D
