What is a headshot and who needs them? It's my opinion that everyone needs a headshot. Social media is integrated into our culture, and our headshot is our online identity. Some businesses use logos. Some people use avatars, but everyone else uses a headshot of some kind. I use that term very loosely. Using the front facing camera on your iphone and taking a picture of yourself isn't really what I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is going to a photography studio and having a photograph taken. The photograph is generally a little tighter than waist up.

Each Photographer is going to have his or her own style. Some will use natural light and some will use strobes. Some will have you sit, and some will have you stand. I prefer to use the natural light of my studio. For years I used studio strobes and had positive results. It was nice because I could repeat the look wherever I went. Today I try to only work in my studio. I prefer this as it has allowed me to create a truly unique look all of my own. As a headshot photographer, it's my job to study your facial mask and decide how to best utilize the angles of your body. I study your movements and your body type and position you in what I believe to be the most flattering way.

Each headshot is a unique experience. Like snowflakes and finer prints, no two headshots should be the same. As I mentioned before, this photograph is your online identity and should help you stand out in crowd. It's intended to help you be noticed.

Chicago headshots are my specialty. I've been doing headshots in Chicago for 4 years and what I've learned is that there is an East Coast look, a West Coast look, and now a Midwest look. My look is definitely Midwestern. It's very fashion forward and bright. If you're ever looking for a photographer in Chicago, don't hesitate to look me up.
