The next regular monthly meeting of the Venture Association New Jersey (www.vanj.com), will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at the Marriott Hanover, Whippany, NJ. The featured speaker will be Katherine O'Neill, Executive Director of JumpStart New Jersey Angel Network (www.jumpstartnj.com), a member led angel investor group that invests in early stage high growth companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
In addition to serving on the Board of the Angel Capital Association (www.angelcapitalassociation.org), O'Neill is also President of O'Neill Associates, a consulting firm providing financial and management services such as business plans, financial projections, and access to financing sources for technology and growth companies in the Mid-Atlantic States. A seasoned financial executive and investor in early stage enterprises, she has extensive experience in startup and entrepreneurial operations as well as operational experience in a diverse range of businesses. Her areas of particular expertise include developing technology-based business as well as strategic business plans, budgets, cash and tax planning and financials. Her talk will focus on what entrepreneurs need to do in order to attract angel investors.
Jumpstart New Jersey was formed with the assistance of the New Jersey Technology Council and New Jersey Economic Development Authority. The organization focuses on seed and early stage companies with core technology needing both funding and seasoned management assistance to move forward. Since 2004, Jumpstart New Jersey has invested in over 32 companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Elevator Pitch Olympics: Exhibitors Pitch for Funding
On May 20, VANJ will hold its Spring Elevator Pitch Olympics, during which entrepreneurs make 2-minute presentations that are judged by a panel of investors. The event will include an exhibit attended by Angel and Venture Capital (VC) firms at which as many as 35 entrepreneurs seeking early stage and growth capital will showcase their companies.
