Article 384: The Cyclical Theory May Proves Resurrection of Pan-Arabism Again

Political analysts say: "The Arab revolution has resurrected a new type of pan-Arabism, based on social justice not empty slogans." (Andoni, 2011). In his analysis, Lamis Andoni emphasized that the Egyptian revolution hasresurrected pan-Arabism but different from pan-Arabism of previous generations. Old Pan-Arabism was a direct response to Western domination since the establishment of foreign body in Palestine, called the state of Israel. Today, it is a reaction to the absence of democratic freedoms and the inequitable distribution of wealth across the Arab world.

The spark of Tunisian Uprising resurrected a new sense of Pan-Arabism in the Egyptian revolution. Unlike the 1950s and 1960s of last century military coup d'etat, revolutions are based on wider goals such as the struggle for social justice and freedom.

Since Jamal Abdul-Naser in Egypt, and oust of Saddam Hussein, Pan-Arabism was defeated. It began with establishing Pan-Islamism by King Faisal of Arab Peninsula who established the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in 1962 to curb the revolutionary Pan-Arabism. As far, the Pan-Islamism failure to improve people's social conditions. The support of the Egyptian revolutionaries was noticed in all Arab countries reflects a sense of regaining dignity, lost since Jamal Abdul-Naser passed away. Most rulers of Arab countries are traditional in their states, where corruption, nepotism, and favoritism contributed in dignity loss. In addition to long periods of unchanged systems.

The spirit of age, which is reflected in the high-technology communication, and sharing the world its universal values toward justice , freedom and human rights made generations of Arab youth to reject the status quo, represented by traditional close-minded authoritarian regimes. Returning Pan Arabism feelings is reflected in the new movement with an intrinsic belief of freedom and human dignity that enables people to make the change and to create a future of hope and prosperity. This sense of feeling sharing is reflected in almost all Arab countries. This sense, I believe was emphasized after Mu'ammar Qaddafi resisted the people's choice for freedom, by directing what is left under his thump to destroy violently the hope of Millions to be free. Leaders as Colonel Qaddafi, who serves under foreign powers domination for 40 plus years, are tyrants towards their own people. Their slogans of prosperity and progress proved empty by dictatorship practices, and elite corruption. According to the Arab proverb, "nothing survives forever, ruling is included" proves that cyclical theory sometimes, which has a large portion of explaining the new reality, Pan-Arabism resurrects again to take its lead, at least in feelings, which promote dignity among Arab people after long years of loosing it. This feeling, optimistically, we say, may make Arab peoples more united emotionally in spite of iron borders made forcedly, among them by super powers. (474 words) www.askdryahya.com
