The Luxuries of a Professional Moving Company

The A&E series "Hoarders" is a powerful show. If I were to watch it alone in the middle of an open field, I would still feel claustrophobic. Odd knick-knacks piled on countertops, stuffed in closets, and shoveled under beds. The people on that show must be awesome at Tetris. Any moving company that tackles that mess deserves a trophy, or at the very least, an extra round at the bar.

"Hoarders" is, obviously, the worst of the worst when it comes to moving scenarios. But, in my recent move, I realized we all probably have more stuff than we think.

I thought it would be simple. I was only moving a few miles away. I figured one weekend of heavy lifting with some friends and a few trips with my car would get it done. Boy was I wrong. Moving an entire apartment was much more exhausting than I planned. The kitchen alone took me half a day. Within a few hours, I already felt overwhelmed. And, that was just getting stuff out. Never mind trying to get everything into the new place. I needed some help. I needed professional movers.

A few days of hard work isn't something I shy away from. But, moving couches, chairs, beds, televisions, kitchen sets, clothes, etc. was simply more than I could chew. Hiring a local moving company turned out to be a wise decision. Once, the pros came in and rolled up their sleeves, I could focus on packing. Now, I could make sure everything was organized and easy to unpack once I get in the new place. As you know, sometimes unpacking is even more difficult than packing.

You might wonder why I'm telling you this. And, I suppose that's reasonable. But I know how easy it is to think you can do everything by yourself. At least that's what I thought at first. However, even with a local move, hiring a professional moving company is the smart move.
