subject: Italian Recipes For The Crock Pot [print this page]

It is the rare individual that is enthusiastic about coming home after a long day at work and cooking dinner for themselves or their family. Most people would prefer for dinner to be ready when they arrive home and appreciate the smell of food cooking when they walk in the door. That is usually a rare occurrence because usually everyone in the household is busy with work, school, and other activities. If you have just a few minutes that you can spend in the morning to prepare for that nights dinner, then it will be ready whenever you walk in the door that night. You can also prepare most of it ahead of time and then put it in the crock pot in the morning. Sunday and Saturdays work good to prepare part of the recipe ahead of time, like the sauce.

CHEESY RAVIOLLI RECIPE

1 tbsp olive oil

1 medium onion-chopped

2 cloves garlic-minced

2 26oz jars spaghetti sauce

1 15 oz can tomato sauce

1 tsp Italian seasoning mix

2 25oz packages frozen ravioli

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

In a large saucepan, cook your onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until your onion is tender and becomes transparent. Stir in the spaghetti sauce and the tomato sauce. Add the Italian seasoning mix.

Spray the inside of your crock-pot with a cooking spray. Now place one cup of this sauce into your crock-pot and add one package of the frozen ravioli. Top this off with one cup of cheese. Next add your second package of ravioli and one more cup of cheese. Pour the remaining sauce over the top and cover. You will want to cook this on low by the time you get home after work. You will know that it is done because the ravioli will be tender.

CROCK POT PASTA PIZZA STYLE

1.5 pounds ground beef

1 medium green pepper-chopped

1 medium onion-chopped

1 4 oz can mushrooms-drained

1 15oz can tomato sauce

1 14 oz can pizza sauce

2 tbsp tomato paste

4 cups of sturdy pasta noodles (rotini, penne, egg noodles or spiral pasta will work well)

23.5oz package pepperoni, sliced

2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

2 tsp Italian seasoning mix

In a large saucepan cook your ground beef, green pepper, onion and mushrooms over medium heat and then drain. Now add your tomato sauce, pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and tomato paste. Mix everything together well. Cook your noodles as directed on the package.

Spray your crock-pot with a cooking spray. Make layers of pasta, the tomato beef mixture, pepperoni and cheese then cover and cook on low for four hours until everything is completely heated through. To have this ready for when you get home, have everything ready so that the kids can assemble it in the crock pot and turn it on when they get home after school, because it is ready in about 3-4 hours when cooked on low.

CROCK POT CHICKEN ALFREDO

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1

16oz jar Alfredo sauce

2 cups corn-frozen

2 cups peas-frozen

1 red pepper-diced

1 4 oz can mushrooms-drained

1 medium onion-chopped

cup water

2 cloves garlic-minced

1 tsp black pepper

3 cups noodles-cooked

Brown the chicken in olive oil in a saucepan. Spray your crock-pot with a cooking spray and then put your chicken in it. You will want to combine your Alfredo sauce, corn, peas, red pepper, mushrooms, onion, water, garlic, and black pepper together in a large bowl. Pour this mixture over your chicken then cover and cook everything on low for six to eight hours or on high for three to four hours. Serve over the top of noodles.

When you get home all you need to do is boil water for the pasta and then sit down and enjoy.

Follow safety guidelines for using a crock-pot. Investing in a good crock-pot will allow for you to have dinner ready when you get home with minimal effort.

When you dont feel like getting dinner ready and putting it in a crock-pot, head over to your local Italian restaurant, like Mama Jennies in Florida where you can eat authentic Italian food cooked by someone else while you sit and relax.
