Plant City Mercedes drivers see continued excellence in 2011 CL-Class

The Mercedes brand prides itself on being an automaker with no true rival. Whether or not this claim rings true with every driver isn't important. However, when considering the 2011 CL-Class, the claim certainly does seem, which ups the ante for its competitors going in to 2011.

InPlant City,Mercedes owners will not find much to fuss about when it comes to cosmetic updates. The look of the model was hardly touched (thankfully). Rather, Mercedes-Benz fans will take note of what Mercedes has accomplished with the CL-Class engine: both in terms of power and fuel economy.

Mercedes ditched the previous versions' V8 engines, and instead, the automaker chose a pair of small, twin-turbo eights. The result is amazing. Basically, there's a 4.6-liter, 429-horsepower V8 fitted with two turbos and direct fuel injection. Despite the 20 percent size reduction, it is actually 12 percent more powerful than before. Also, it offers 32 percent more torque, and reaches 60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds, more than half of a second quicker than its predecessor.

If the under-the-hood amplifications do not impressive enough, the CL-Class achieves this power while offering 10 percent more fuel efficiency. InOrlando, used Mercedes-Benz owners like that this is what 2011 holds for Mercedes.

The CL-Class drives as well as it sounds like it would on paper. It's a lot like its predecessor - a wide, heavy and fast automobile. Both engines offer impressive response times and only the slightest hint of turbo lag. Depending on your style, the CL550 has a hushed and quiet engine, while the CL63 is quite a bit louder. But the real noise is the buzz surrounding the vastly improved engine performance.

Bottom line: the CL-Class is truly a triumph. Although the CL-Class hits showrooms reading as the same model year as the lineups from all other makes, Mercedes is light years ahead of the competition.
