The Cavaliers acquired Davis, a point guard who can score, and an unprotected 2011 first-round draft pick for guard Mo Williams and forward Jamario Moon. Scott said the new players haven't had a chance to practice with the team. The Cavaliers don't play again until Wednesday night against San Antonio. Scott said Davis, who has been bothered by a sore left knee all season, is questionable for that game.
"It's felt OK," Davis said. "It's a little unstable. It swells up periodically. I've been playing hurt all season."
Davis, 31, doesn't think the knee will keep him sidelined for an extended period of time. He shot around on the court for about 30 minutes before Sunday's game.
"If I can get out the floor and get some good practice time here, the faster that happens the quicker I can get out on the court," Davis said.
Dealing with the knee problem is nothing new for Davis. He said he's had three operations and also had a cyst removed.
Davis, a 12-year veteran, is averaging 12.8 points this season, down from his career average of 16.5 points.
Davis is occupying the locker that was used by LeBron James, who left for Miami in July. The locker was used by Moon before the trade. Davis will wear No. 85 as a tribute to his grandparents, who raised him in the Los Angeles area and first got him interested in playing basketball. His grandparents lived on 85th Street.
Davis, even though he was playing in his hometown, had some rocky times with the Clippers. He was heckled this season by owner Donald Sterling, who sits courtside as the Staples Center.
