How to Improve the Look of Your Skin Not Only Sensitive Skin

Make it a habit to eat green, leafy vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, lamb's lettuce and collard greens. They are full of vitamin E. According to preliminary studies vitamin E has antioxidant capabilities. This means the vitamin plays a role in the anti-aging of skin.

To help keep skin looking young the cosmetic industry uses vitamin E as popular additive, especially in lotions.

Other sources of antioxidants are also helpful for neutralizing free radicals before they can build up in the skin. So, any popular antioxidant-rich food Black and green tea, herbs and spices, red wine, fresh vegetables and fruits can help to improve the look of your skin.

Diets rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains support healthier and younger looking skin. If you want to do even more, try to include zinc, silica and omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.

Silica is a trace mineral. It is important because it helps support the connective tissues within your body, including the ones responsible for supple and elastic skin. Zinc is good for regulating the production of oil in the skin. And, omega-3 fatty acids help the body to repair its skin as well as contribute to moisture levels in the skin.

Our skin is made mainly of collagen, which is a protein. Collagen holds your skin cells together and prevents it from sagging. Especially collagen gets tackled by free radicals. When free radicals accumulate in the skin, they can injure the collagen and make skin appear much older than it actually is.

As we age the ability of our skin to develop collagen diminishes.

It is a good idea to avoid daily stress, in order to prevent skin problems. The hormones released during intense stress can trigger rashes and inflammation. Managing stress and engaging in stress-busting activities like exercise or meditation can encourage pliable and healthy skin.

Also to help keep your skin pliable is to drink more water. This is valid during summer and winter. In summer you need more water because of the heat causes us to sweat. But drinking enough water in winter is important, too. The fresh water will keep your internal filtering system working properly and help maintain rich glowing skin.

Be especially gentle when cleansing your skin during cold and dry months. After washing, pat your skin dry gently and apply body lotion to all dry and sensitive skin areas. Use mild soap. It might be good for your skin not to wash your hands that often during winter.
