Guy Laliberte, founder of Cirque du Soleil began his career as a performance artist on the streets of Baie-Saint Paul in Quebec. He succeeded in obtaining a government grant to conduct a provincial tour in 1984 in celebration of the 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier's discovery of Canada. He and his troupe haven't stopped since.
Cirque du Soleil is a form of high quality entertainment bringing alive the imaginary worlds of children and adults across the globe. This creative force claims their people as the backbone of their success. Each show combines topical themes with global art forms and acrobatic performances often involving musical collaborations. The performers display enough grace and dancing to please the female spectators. Enough action, daring and dexterity to put smiles on the faces of boys in the audience.

Cirque du Soleil's headquarters is based in Montreal, Quebec. Their extravaganzas can be witnessed around the world. There are permanent shows in Las Vegas, Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, Orlando and Macau. The touring shows cover most areas of the globe which will include Africa from the spring of 2011.
How successful are the artists at bringing your most vivid dreams to life? Well, proof of their success can be found among their many accolades, not least the Rose d'Or awarded in 1989 and the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame presented in 2010.
This inventive body of creative minds began as a small troupe of 70 Quebecois French-speaking street artists. Jugglers, stilt walkers and fire-breathers. It has grown into a multi-lingual, multi-national, multi-billion pound enterprise, employing 4000 people to provide fun, lively, educational family entertainment of the highest order.
