Don't let those Burglars Get the best of you!

An invite for the would be burglar is as simple as leaving a pile of newspapers at the end of your driveway or letting the mail pile up in your mailbox to the point of overflow. These are just a few of the objects a burglar is looking for while out scanning neighborhoods for their next home break-in.

Burglars also are on the lookout for the spare key lingering somewhere on the outside of your home, leaving notes on your door stating you aren't home at the time, leaving windows ajar while you are away, leaving your home and not having someone attend to your lawn, leaving it over grown and lastly not lighting up your home on the inside and outside. Dark unattended areas are a great place for the burglar to enter and exit your home. What about the basement window or the old door locks that are in badrepair? These are all fixes that can be done very easily to help in the prevention of a home burglary.

Burglars are always looking for the easy access to and from your home. He/she will most likely always use the path which allows him/her to the greatest escape route. This is why mostly all burglars work in the night, however many homes are also burglarized during the day when most people are at work between the hours of 9am to 3pm.

You can also use window alarms, door alarms, install a surveillance system, these will all help aid in deterring a burglar from entering your home. Loud sounding alarms especially in a neighborhood environment are always a good bet. The last thing a burglar wants is to have attention draw to him or her.

By making yourself more aware of your surroundings and taking the time to do those easy fixes around your home you keep saying you need to do! So take the necessary precautions to ensure you and your loved ones are safer. Remember your home is your castle, protect it!
