Why Everything Will Be Digitized Very Soon Using Document Imaging

It started three years ago. A group of analysts from Google began working on a new project. One of many the company has assigned throughout their workforce. Their task was to help the Israeli Holocaust memorial museum digitize its database. By using document scanning techniques and applying a new document scanning software that can identify any words that are written on old pictures. This allows you to scan for a name while the document scanning program does not only search for text documents but also lets you know if the name appears on any photos.Yad Vashem is not the only organization using document imaging and scanning services in order to make their database more efficient. Another organization charged with recording history is theNational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. They joined forces with the University of Colorado to digitize records of the variability in the earth's atmosphere from 1871 to 2008.It is a bit surprising but recorded weather information has not been around for too long. All of our research on global warming, pollution rates, and other critical information is slowly being scanned by scanning companies and will allow for a more in-depth look, once it is all digitized.Japan and other European countries are now scanning documents that will allow citizens to better mine their country's official database. Here in America, the Library Of Congress contains almost 30 million books and other materials. Document Scanning Services are being used in order to make sure the data is stored for centuries more. But America is far from being ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to document scanning.According to the New York Times, the National Library of Norway had an early start in 2005, and have already digitized about 170,000 book and 250,000 Newspapers. The National Library of the Netherlands said it has begun to scan all dutch books, newspapers and periodicals from 1470 onward. One of the best examples of the benefits of digitizing can be seen in the medical field. Hospitals everywhere are scrambling to get their information scanned and available online. By scanning medical documents and other important pieces of information like x-ray images, a medial institution is able to have the data "float" and whoever needs access to it can view it anytime. Some medical facilities are already using iPads and other tools in order to access scanned information. It's clear that digitizing is happening everywhere and at some point in the near future, all information will be digitized.
