The main cause is hereditary and eczema in little children starts manifesting when they are merely 2 or 3 months old. The most common form of eczema is atopic eczema, a hypersensitive condition of the immune system. Though one cannot isolate the reason, it is doable that if family members have eczema, asthma or hay fever, the baby may get it too.

Contact with a particular allergen may also be the cause of allergic contact eczema or irritant contact in tiny tots. Let's take a look at few of baby eczema home remedies -

1. Keep the skin hydrated: As eczema manifests in the form of dry skin, keep your infant's skin hydrated or moisturized. This can be done by applying baby oil or baby lotion approved by the doctor. Though certain baby products can also hurt the gentle skin, the doctor may just suggest a better moisturizing, skin cream suited to this situation.

2. Use Cotton Clothes: Take care that your baby wears cotton clothes instead of woolen or synthetic material that can cause skin irritation and make it difficult to breathe. Cotton material is the best to soothe the skin and avoid flare-ups.

3. Do not contact the baby with soapy chemicals or detergents: It is general for moms to sluice clothes with detergents or use chemical soaps, and then pick the baby. This can be irritating to the baby's skin; so it is better to avoid touching or picking the baby with chemicals on your hand. Wash your hands with a natural, chemical-free soap and ensure you are with clean hands always.

4. Bath your toddler in lukewarm water: Bathe your babe in lukewarm water, so that the skin preserves moisture. If your baby is prone to eczema, avoid using soap-based products. Presently, soaps that are designed for babies with sensitive skin are available. Be sure you pat your baby's skin rather than stroke it.

5. Keep pets and dust away: Keep your tot away from pets since the hair might be irritating to the skin. If your room has a lot of old books or files, keep your baby away from the room. Clean your baby's room; make use of soft furnishings and keep the temperate chill. As a replacement for sitting on the carpet, make the babe sit on a mat.

6. Wrap baby's nails with socks: Itching and scratching can aggravate the eczema in infants, so it is better to keep your baby's nails short and wrap with socks or cotton mittens.
