Learn How to do s/w project version control

Step 1 Took a software from tortoisesvn.net (or download it) Go to downloads and download tortoise for 32 bit Install the software and restart the system Make a repository folder where you want to take backup of your project We make a folder with name abc in the repository folder like in f drive Now right click on abc folder and follow the steps given below Tortoisesvn->create repository here A message will appear of repository created now open this folder you will see some files here

Step 2: Now go to c drive and make a folder with name abc Right click on abc folder ->tortoisesvn->import click Now give path of the folder where you want to create backup like in f:/repository/abc And click on ok Now right click on your project and click on svncheckout By this synchronization of your project with the back up will be done Now open this folder you will see the.svn file inside it it is a hidden file If not appearing then you can check it by going tools->folder options->view ->show hidden files Now make a text file inside the folder and name it as (a) now you will see the question mark on the file it means that this file has not be gone to the backup of this folder Now go to project and right click on project and click on svn commit and one window will appear like text file will appear with check box select the file by using check box and write message like this is the ist version of file click on ok Then message will appear revision 1 completed it means this file is gone to back ups now open the folder you will see the right sign on text file it means it resides in backup also Now open this file and write that this is the 2nd version of text file and save it now you will see another sign on the text file it means it is updated now and not saved in to the backups again go to your folder and its sign is also changed it is the sign that some updation is done and right click and svn commit do and write a message it is a 2nd revision and click on ok make a text file again inside the folder and name it as (b) now you will see the question mark on the file it means that this file has not be gone to the backup of this folder Now go to project and right click on project and click on svn commit and write message like this is the 3rd revision of file click on ok Now write in text file this is the 4 th revision in the file and save it and now again do commit to the project write in the message (this is the 4 th revision) and click on ok
