The zoo is also a leader in many animal keeping and animal care technologies and techniques, spearheading many different programs that have been copied by other zoos, and have set the standards for zoos all over the world. The results of these efforts are evident in the many enclosures of the zoo, all of which are perfect habitats and environments for the inhabitants. There are plenty of them, some are outdoor animal exhibits that let the animals roam almost totally free, and some are indoor exhibits that keep the animals safe and secure, while still maintaining a very good replica of their natural environment. Whether outdoor or indoor, these exhibits range in themes from the African rain forests, to the snowy Arctic regions, and everything in between. These themes suit each exhibited set of animals really well, in order to emulate their behavior in their natural habitat. The amount of exhibits here may make you think that it's hard to get around the place. But it's not! In fact, it's actually a lot easier to go around San Diego Zoo than other similar sized animal sanctuaries. There are a number of buses that bring people all over the park; the bus routes cover around 75% of the park area. Then there's an overhead lift called the Skyfari, an amazing system that gives visitors to the park a clear, unobstructed bird's eye view of the different areas of the zoos and their amazing wildlife.These animals are so amazing, that over the years many of them have even gone into showbiz! The animals of the San Diego Zoo have become regular guests to many talk show and entertainment programs, which include The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The animals appear not just to entertain, but to inform people about animals, animal conservation, and more. It is because of these animals, the exhibits, and the zoo's appearances in pop culture that San Diego Zoo has become a household name, not just in our country, but the entire world.
