It is directed by the man behind the Canadian headbanging documentary, FUBAR, Mr. Michael Dowse. Last Friday, I was invited to a super special screening event at MGM. I went with my friend and fellow blogger, Leeann of Join the Gossip. Her blog is informative and funny. She posts about herself (much like I do) and has giveaways and she LOVES clothes and makeup. Check out her blog, you won't be disappointed.
First off, lemme say that I LOVE 80's flicks. Maybe everyone my age is, I don't know, but say "80's" and I am there. So naturally when I received the invite to check this out, I said HELL YES. I got to the screening way early because I live in the Valley and even though it is only a few miles away, on the 405 freeway, it easily takes an hour. Gotta love LA traffic. Anyhow, the screening was located at a MGM Screening room where we actually were amongst real reviewers and movie execs. Needless to say, we felt kinda important. Topher Grace himself came out and introduced the film because not only did he star in it, he also produced and wrote it.
This movie was spot on 80's. It took place in the Valley (cause anyone who has watched 80's films knows life takes place in the Valley or Ohio) and is about Matt Franklin who is an MIT graduate, pretty much at that point of his life where he has to decide what he wants to do with his future, but has no real clue. When suddenly Matt's high school crush and dream girl Tori Frederking (Teresa Palmer) comes back on the scene, Matt finds his way to meet her at a Labor Day party thrown by his sister's boyfriend. Along for a wild and hilarious night are Matt's equally smart twin sister, Wendy (Anna Faris), who is on the brink of moving in with her soooo-wrong for her boyfriend and his just been fired from his job best friend, Barry (Dan Fogler) who is having a sort of "it all" motto..
