With the new Cataclysm expansion, World of Warcraft will never be the same. Everything about Azeroth has changed, for example, you can now use your flying mount there. But how does that affect you? Will you roll a Worgen / Goblin or get your level 80 to 85?
New Races
In the new expansion there are now two new races, Goblins for Horde and Worgens for Alliance. You will be able to check out the new starting zones where you level from 1-13. The new races have some new great benefits. Worgens can now be their own mount, and goblins can get bank access for 1 minute anywhere in the world, they'll also have discounts from vendors.
Crowd Control Focus
The new raiding of Cataclysm has changed quite a lot, the Crowd Control is more important, so Rogues, Hunters, Priests, Mages and Shamans will be needed more than ever, and it will have a big impact on the gameplay itself.
Healers and Tanks have basically the same gameplay as they did in WotLK, some spells will be easier for healers though. The DPS Gameplay have changed a lot, so you will have to learn how to raid once again in Cataclysm.
Speccing and Mastery
The talent trees have changed in cataclysm, from being a big 51 pointer in all your 3 to now just having 31 points for getting the last thing. And to get a mastery in any of the speccs, you have to spend all your points till level 69 to be able to get it.
Therefore, if you're used to play a hybrid class like fire/arc mage, or Mark/Surv hunter, you will now be forced to "put all your eggs in one basket" or in other words, put all of your talents in 1 tree. This isn't all bad, with all the points in 1 tree you will be able to get a Mastery bonus, which are different for every tree. These are no small buffs, but can easily increase your DPS by 10-15%, same for healing and tanking.
Many of the changes that came in cataclysm has made the game easier for the average player. But because every player plays their own class differently, and there are a lot of ways that you can choose how to play, it wont get to easy, I can assure you that. Now you should be able to get a hunch on what you are going to do in the World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion. By the looks of it, Rated BGs are going to play a big part in Cata, so good luck in there!
