Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Mosaic Project is best known for its work with school-age children to foster self-development and personal growth via school-sponsored workshops and weeklong retreats in the bucolic and serene Napa hills. The retreats are planned and primarily staffed by teenagers who themselves attended the retreats years earlier. However, The Mosaic Project has also been facilitating trainings for adults for many years, and is now expanding its offerings through MCP. These trainings are designed not only for educational organizations, but also for corporations and community-based organizations.
Mosaic Consulting Project furthers its mission to create a more peaceful future while also providing a promising funding source for The Mosaic Project. It will enable broader impact as entire communities are reached through schools, community-based organizations, and the workplace.
MCP trainings utilize experiential, dynamic activities to explore differences and build community. Our focus on empathy, appreciation of differences, assertiveness, and conflict resolution creates a more effective and capable workforce, a better learning environment, and a stronger, more cohesive community. Duane deJoie is a trained lawyer who has been involved in a number of community projects in the San Francisco Bay Area including the creation of affordable housing developments in Berkeley. He learned of the work done by The Mosaic Project through the experiences his daughter and son enjoyed when they attended the youth retreats while still in grade school. deJoie was so impressed by the Mosaic Project's philosophy of developing empathy, strong communication and conflict resolution skills in school-aged children that he decided to become involved to promote the Mosaic Project work and will now participate in the new expansion of the Mosaic Consulting Project.
