The War Against Boys: How Misguided Feminism is Harming our Young Men

In her book Christina Hoff Sommers demonstratesthat our schools, disproportionately influenced by abiased and even hateful feminist theory, are clearly engaged in institutional male bashing, fromcriticizing boys for engaging in "boy play" ("aggressive" play), to attacking malesports programslike football (unless, of course a girl wants to play), to promoting lies and misinformation about who is really the "endangered" gender in school. Feminists seem to stop at nothing to not only bash males but to drill the idea into our heads that girls are falling behind boys in every possible way.

But as Christina Hoff Sommers demonstrates in her book, boys are the ones that are in real danger, for example boys are less likely to go to college, more likely to drop out, be suspended, take drugs, come to school unprepared, get into fights, are four times more likely to commit suicide, score far below girls in reading and writing as well as a host of other issues.

As you find inSommers book, Gilligan (the "main" promoter of the girls are in crisis movement) failed to use empirical data in her writing; has refused to publish anyher findings (because she has none); and, continues to write more and more about what and who boys are and need without a shred of evidence from well documented studies. The facts revealed in this book willprobably anger any parent of a boy or anyself respecting male in general. But as you find out after reading through Sommerswell researched facts, the reality is that it isboysthatneed ourattention.

Some of the feminist misinformation include"omitting" the massive amount of facts about boys troubles in school and promoting the areas where girls lag behind usually using information that has misteriously been "misplaced" or that has not been published, these are just some of the areas where these "girl advocates" lie and misinform, for example they try to claim that boys do much better on the SAT tests as proof of "discrimination"but forget to mention that boys are far less likely to take such tests (54%to 46%)and according to the College Board's "Profile of SAT and Achievement Test Takers," many more girls from "at risk" categories take the test than boys who are in the "at risk" category. Mainly at risk girls from lower income homes or with parents who have never graduated high school or who have never attended college. So in other words, because the boys from the "at risk" categories do not take the SAT test at the same rate girls do the girls' average score is lower and as Sommers points out instead of trying to attribute this to "proof" of discrimination, we should be concerned about the boys who never take the time to take the SAT and other tests at the same rate girls do.

These are just someof the well documented researchin Christina Hoff Sommers book "The War Against Boys", if you want to know how at risk your son or grandson are in school, or want to know how hateful and bias feminists have become then this book is a must read.
