Cruise Shoes - 5 Reasons to Carefully Pick What You Pack

When packing for any vacation including cruise vacations the selection of shoes often becomes a last minute decision. "I'll just throw in these runners and maybe these flipflops", that sort of thing.

However, choosing the correct footwear can make the difference between a fabulous cruise vacation and a miserable time. I will offer a few reasons why you should carefully choose your shoes.

Everyone wants to look fashionable while strolling the decks and ports-of-call on a cruise vacation. In spite of this you must think comfort first.

Why?

First of all think about the shear size of your floating resort. Large to mid-size cruise ships can be over 900 feet long and 100 feet wide. The mega-ships can be over 1,200 feet long and 200 feet wide. And this is on each deck level. You may be going from front to back and from floor to floor on 13 floors!

Second, you may have specific adventures that you want to take part in during the time in port. These activities may dictate that you pack hiking boots, snow boots or walking shoes. Again think comfort. You don't want to be half way into a mountain or rain forest trek and have your feet start to hurt.

Next, the activities on board may dictate special shoes. If you plan to take part in the formal nights you will certainly want to have some dress shoes. Ideally your dress shoes should do double duty so that you can wear them more than once or twice.

Using the spa exercise room will prescribe runner, jogging shoes or other athletic footwear. Sandals or flip flops may be the order of the day if you plan to spend time at the lido pool or for just kicking back.

If you plan to hit the nightclubs and discos you will want some dancing shoes comfortable of course.

You may want to purchase some new footwear for your cruise (there are plenty of cruise shoes online websites available to you). This needs to be planned early. You will want to get them early enough so that you can break them in and make sure that they are comfortable long before sailing.

And finally, you want to plan your cruise shoes selection carefully because you won't want to be dragging around luggage bags full of shoes and sandals for your cruise. With the airlines charging for luggage it can be quite expensive as well.

If you plan carefully you will have the cruise footwear you need. The shoes, sandals and boots will be comfortable and will enhance your cruises experience. By making each item do double duty you won't break your back (or your pocket book) by carrying more than required.

One last note Think Comfort!
