Satellite TV providers have created much buzz around the globe. They have brought the ultimate experience of satellite TV in our homes, but they have also carried along many negative aspects. In a recent report, it has been found that satellite TV providers are distorting content of contract so as to draw in many number consumers. One such evident example is DirecTV, which is once again in the headlines for misrepresentation of its contract.
DirecTV is a leading satellite TV provider in the United States of America, and which cannot be expected to follow malpractices to lure customers into contract. But it is true that over the years, the company is indulging into different kinds of business scams and misleading subscribers greatly. In a recent complaint, a DirecTV subscriber has alleged that the company has highly twisted the words and phrases of contract to deceive people at large. The sole aim of this is not just to mislead people, but it is also used a bait to retain customers.
This DirecTV subscriber asked the company to review its account, after being a faithful subscriber since a couple of years. Quite obvious, the aim of this subscriber was to check out the present condition of the contract and if possible to switch to another cable or satellite TV provider, as per convenience and budget. When DirecTV was disclosed this fact that this consumer was planning a change, it immediately put forward many offers that he could enjoy if he remained the subscriber, which would otherwise be not available with other competitive provider or with local cable TV provider.
The DirecTV representative gave several offers verbally. Since the consumer was clever, he asked the representative to send him across an email clarifying the details of offers. This deal was finally signed by the subscriber's wife and was complete. The problem arose when there was increase in his bill recently, which was about a $13 in a month. As was agreed, there would be no increase in monthly rentals, but DirecTV manipulated things. It did not add anything for the DVR service, but included additional charges for all the receivers in his house.
Post heated dialogues and much arguments, some of the discrepancies in the contract was resolved. Although the monthly increment in the fee still remains to be settled. There are many consumers who have been enslaved by DirecTV commitments and are looking around for some assistance and respite.
No doubt, trust is built upon fair and ethical practices, which is quite away from DirecTV. Slowly people are losing faith in the company and gradually switching boats with other providers. In fact, besides using misleading and deceptive business practices, the satellite TV giant DirecTV is also involving its Managers, Customer support representatives and Supervisors, along with professional Installers' to participate in business collusion. DirecTV is a big brand name and it is really disappointing to find a satellite TV company like this one to go far enough to trick subscribers.
