DR MANMOHAN SINGH SCHOLARSHIP
Launched in 2007 the scholarship is offered in honor of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister, a graduate and Honorary Fellow of St John's College, University of Cambridge.
The scholarship enables academically outstanding Indian students to attend St. John's College to study for doctoral degrees in subjects like Science & Technology, Economics, and Social Sciences (Students in S&T domain must have particular interest in Aerospace Engineering and Energy Studies).
Aside from applying For this award, students must identify a suitable Doctoral programme and supervisor at the University of Cambridge, apply for a place for September/October 2011 and secure admission. Applicants are assessed for leadership and communication skills. You must be an Indian citizen.
Application is directly made to the College, and the successful applicants are awarded the fellowships by the college. The interviews are generally held in February/March and finally awards are announced by April. The British Council coordinates pre departure briefings, UK Visa and travel arrangements for the selected candidates.
ERASMUS MUNDUS FELLOWSHIPS
Erasmus Mundus is a European cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding with non-European countries.
The programme provides support to individual students, researchers and university staff who wish to pursue education/research in areas of agriculture and veterinary, health and welfare, science mathematics and computing, humanities and arts, social science, business and law, engineering manufacture and construction.
If selected, the programme allows students as well as academics, to spend a period of between three months and three years, studying, teaching or researching in Europe. The only condition is that at the end of this period, they are required to return to their country of origin.
