Trujillo Honduras is a wonderful off the beaten track location that offers a variety of great accommodation. In fact, there are hotels in Trujillo Honduras for almost every type of traveler. This is the problem when you step away from the all-inclusive type of vacation. With all inclusive it's simply a matter of which area you want to stay in, or where has the best beach. When you are planning your vacation from scratch, you have so many options it is almost overwhelming!
So how do you choose the right hotel for you?
The first thing to do when choosing your vacation is to answer the question what factor is most important to you? There are so many factors to choose from you need to narrow it down. So here is a quick guide to help you work out what is most important to you.
1. Price - How much money are you looking at spending? Trujillo, like any area, has a wide variety of pricing options. If you are looking for real budget accommodation you are best off looking in the direction of Casa Kiwi, a back packers hostel, or The Emperador, a hotel in the center of town. Both options are clean but pretty short on luxuries. Many of Trujillo's mid range hotels may surprise even those on a budget. At Tranquility Bay a 5 bed Cabana is only $70 per night, which actually works out at very little. Even the most expensive hotel rates in Trujillo go very little over $100 per night. The whole area is good value!
2. Location. What do you want from your vacation? Do you want to be in a secluded area or in the center of things? If you are looking for a private resort Tranquility Bay, is again a good option. As the owners have built Cabanas rather than a hotel complex there is an even greater feeling of privacy. An in-between option is Casa Alemania. This is located about 20 minutes walk from the center of Trujillo, but still feels secluded. The only problem you have here is that the stretch of beach it occupies gets a little crowded on the weekends
3. Amenities - Like anywhere there is a real range of amenities available at the hotels in Trujillo. As a pre-warning you are not going to find the type of luxury you would get at an all-inclusive resort in Barbados. So if that is your expectation this may not be the vacation location for you! The Christopher Columbus hotel complex does have two onsite pools and a pool bar. The only downside is its close proximity to Trujillo's airstrip.
4. Ambiance - this is probably one of the biggest points of difference between the Trujillo hotels. If you want a hotel where you can swing in a hammock all day, definitely head for Tranquility Bay. If you don't mind your hotel being more impersonal and just want a central location, then Hotel O'Glynn in the center of Trujillo may be a good option for you.
5. Family Friendliness - Honduras is a country that loves children and they are welcome everywhere. The one hotel that actively discourages child visitors is the Banana Beach resort, so steer clear of this one if you have kids! As a pre-warning there are no water or amusement parks in Trujillo but you do have some amazing wildlife and beaches for your kids to enjoy.
So, have a think about what you want out of hotels in Trujillo Honduras - what is your major motivator? Whatever it is, Trujillo will have some great accommodation that fits your requirements!
