Make Music for yourself and don't rely on the Music Industry to get signed

The Music Industry is about making money.

The people in the music industry care about making money first, second, then they might think of the quality of the music third.

This is their livelihood

Feeding their families is their priority not artistic expression

And with the current advances in technology ANYONE with a little money can produce a record.

Because of this we are oversaturated with music - the record companies can't monetize it - because of their ignorance and their reluctance to adapt to the internet until it was too late.

Now the people who sell are those that have the media engine to push them to the masses

Trust me Beiber will have a longer stay than any of them boy bands did in the past for the simple fact that he is a known name.

He is marketable and proven.

He is a cash cow and can feed families.

A&R for artists is dead - Record companies can not put money into developing artists - they could give a million dollars in promotion to an artist an be lucky to sell 50,000 units.

They still haven't to this day figured out a proper business model.

Itunes is the biggest retailer and they take a cut of every sale and albums don't even sell anymore - if people do buy they are only buying singles for $1.99 or downloading it for free.

The radio is controlled by the industry - they are paid to play music - radio is the medium really dictating what's going on but again they are contracted by the labels to play what they want for the most part.

There are tons of online radio stations - but they are really insignificant to over the air radio at this moment.

Traditional Radio will be the most powerful medium to get your music heard UNTIL the internet is easily accessible in cars and car radios receive internet feeds - then the online radio stations will have a leg to stand on.

But we are at least 4-5 years away from that.

Use the power of social media to get your message heard. twitter facebook etc - market your own music - get it out there - if you have enough numbers the record companies will find you.
