If you love to hear music up close and personal then you must have used Sennheiser's headphone once in your life. So, when a new product comes out from a company like this, it heightens the expectations and Sennheiser HD 598 fulfills them in almost all aspects.
Look and Feel
Sennheiser HD 598 are a delight not just for the ears but for eyes too. The headphones are mostly made of plastic but that does not mean it looks cheap. It's a luxurious pair of headphones and despite a plastic build, it looks classy.
The headband is soft and thickly padded for your comfort. It weighs only 9.5 ounces. That is a huge advantage when you are listening music for a long time. The lighter headphone keeps the blood flow in brain normal.
Sennheiser experimented with the color schemes of HD 598 and they gave the headphones a tan beige color, wood-like trims and matching brown ear pads.
The HD 598 are an over the ear headphones and Sennheiser took extra care to make it an extremely comfortable head gear.
All thanks to the huge ear cups and extra padded ear pads, the headphones are so comfortable that you feel your ears are sitting on a costly, comfortable cushion. The ear pads are made from a very soft fabric which opposed to leather, does not get cold in the winter.
The headphones have a 10-foot-long cable, completed with a 6.3-millimeter gold-plated plug, and besides that you get a gold-plated 3.5mm audio plug.
Like every other great headphones, cable attaches to one ear cup. The cable is replaceable in case it gets torn.
Despite its glamorous design, Sennheiser should look at some design glitches. Beige is not a popular color and HD 598 does not come in any other color!
That's really strange because a classic black could have appealed a bigger audience. Also a little leather, especially in the headband could make it more elegant.
Sound Resolution
Headphones' review can't be finished without the audio clarity assessment, right? Well, if in LCD or LED the "HD" stands for high definition video, then in Sennheiser HD 598 it stands for high definition audio.
The HD 598 is a music lover's dream companion with whom you can hang out for hours.
As I mentioned earlier in the headline of the review that they are open air headphones, they throws super clear sound.
The HD 598 are equipped with Sennheiser's Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement technology, which uses acoustic baffles, disposed at a slight angle to guide the sound directly to the ears.
