St Patrick's Day is celebrated far and wide by many people. Although its roots come from St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland who brought Christianity there, it's safe to bet many revelers do not even know this. The holiday is widely celebrated by both religious and secular people, and is a particularly festive holiday with many parades, good food and drink, and more. Here are 4 fun ideas for St Patrick's Day.
1) Drink something green! Green is the color of Ireland, and green beverages are traditional on this holiday. There are plenty of green drink mixes, or you could make a beverage green. Green lemonade made by adding just a little green food coloring to lemonade is a classic as is of course green beer. Guinness Stout and Irish Whiskey, although not green, are popular too.
2) Have something Irish to eat. Many pubs and restaurants offer specials on this day. Cabbage and corned beef is but one commonly Irish dish, and various stews and other dishes are popular too. Most Irish dishes are not hard to cook either so you can certainly whip something up at home with a little preparation, and perhaps even invite guests and throw a bit of a party for the occasion, even if you are not Irish like me.
3) One word, "parade!" Parades are very popular on St Patrick's Day, and you'll find them on all continents except maybe Antarctica! There probably is one near you complete with bagpipes, leprechauns, and more! Most medium and up cities and towns either have one or have one nearby.
