Lockerbie Academy has been given a major boost with the development of a brand new environmentally friendly paving system.
The extensive paving installed at the school is one of the first major projects in Lockerbie to use Tobermore's pioneering Hydropave permeable paving system which is designed to help control flooding and environmental problems.
Permeable Paving has become very important in reducing flooding and pollution problems in risk areas across Britain and Ireland. Tobermore's Hydropave Permeable Paving has already offered solutions to contractors across England, Scotland and Ireland in other large commercial projects including Hotels, Car Parks, Retail Parks, Housing Developments, Commercial Buildings and other Schools and Universities.
The product allows water to escape below the paving to a gravel bed where, it is stored and released in a controlled manner either back into the ground or into the existing storm water system.
The water is filtered as it goes through the system and harmful pollutants are also removed. Research has shown that Tobermore's Hydropave can remove over 90% of Hydrocarbons and heavy metal pollutants which are highly dangerous to Flora and Fauna if they were allowed to enter the streams and waterways.
Tobermore's Area Sales Executive for the project, Trevor Carson said: "We are delighted H&J Martin decided to use our Hydropave permeable paving system at Lockerbie Academy."
Trevor added "Tobermore would like to give a special mention to Aedus Landscape Architects, H&J Martin and Hardie Engineering. They have done a fantastic job in designing, planning and finishing this project" concluded Trevor.
In addition to its immense practical advantages, the Hydropave blocks used at the school look fantastic and complement the attractive look of the building that gives staff, residents and visitors an excellent first impression with such beautiful landscaping.
