Artificial Grass Sports Pitch Installations with Foam Underlay

Artificial grass has become extremely popular for sports pitch coverage. The uptake of artificial turf is in part due to the make up of the products that are on the market today. Many turfs are now manufactured from polyethylene rather than nylon so friction burns are no longer a problem. It is also perfect as the turfs create a multi use games area (MUGA) that can be used in all weathers.

Foam shock pad underlay is particularly useful underneath an artificial turf sports pitch installation. Most artificial turf sports pitches are installed over a concrete or tarmac base, the underlay acts as a barrier between the base and the turf thus protecting the turf against damage when the pitch is being used as the turf will move around ever so slightly. The pitch will have a longer life expectancy when laid over an 8mm rubber underlay.

The underlay also provides excellent drainage for a pitch as the construction of some underlays allows for both vertical and horizontal drainage. The pad and synthetic turf will therefore dry out quickly following rain and allows for much longer periods of use of the surface all year round.

The performance of any synthetic turf pitch is of paramount importance and the underlay will also ensure consistency of performance and improved bounce and ball control.

Many foam pads are manufactured from recycled materials which would alternatively have been put into landfill. The rubber is granulated and then fused together through a heating process. Therefore, by installing a recycled rubber underlay you are not only improving your pitch but also having a positive effect on the environment.
